Professor Mathew Folaranmi Olaniyan has said maintaining healthy habits can boost your health and put you on the path to Human longevity. This was made known at the fifth inaugural lecture of the Edo State University Uzairue, held on Wednesday, 7th December, 2022.
The lecture which was delivered by the Professor, who is also the Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies of the university was titled; ‘’Exposition of Systemic response to Foreign agents for preventive Healthcare; A source of Potent Information for Human Longevity.
Prof. Olaniyan, said the duration of human life is unknown, but there is presumably a maximum life span for the human race which is established in the genetic material which has no scientific proof that human can live up to 1,000 years but some might have lived up to 150 years. He said preventive healthcare can gainfully improve life while restricted access to healthcare can cause premature death or other undesirable health issues.
The professor of Chemical pathology and immunology advised people to maintain a healthy body weight, blood lipids and blood pressure, reduce stress, eat plenty of healthy plant foods, avoid chronic stress and anxiety, and eat less of red meat among others. Regular Medical Laboratory checkup for early detection of disease before it progress to irreversible pathological condition.
He equally listed some causes of death at young age to include; Cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diarrheal disease, tuberculosis, malnutrition, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, smoking, suicide and homicides amongst others.
