Edo State Deputy Governor Flags off Edo State University Teaching Hospital’s Free Medical Outreach

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has launched a three-day free medical outreach at the Edo State University Teaching Hospital Auchi in a bid to provide quality healthcare services to the people.

At the event held in Auchi, the Deputy Governor expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for upgrading and granting concession of the former Central Hospital Auchi to the Edo State University Teaching Hospital Auchi. He urged the community members to utilize the facilities and take advantage of the free medical services offered.

The Chief Medical Director of the Edo State University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Sylvester E. Idogun, acknowledged the generosity of the Governor and his deputy towards the hospital's development. He emphasized that the hospital's goal is to continue upgrading until it meets an enviable standard. Prof. Idogun also promised that the hospital would be operational 24/7 with efficient medical practitioners and urged community leaders to protect the facility for optimal service delivery.

The Vice-Chancellor of Edo State University Uzairue, Professor Emmanuel Aluyor, expressed his satisfaction with the quality of equipment in the Teaching Hospital. He noted that the hospital had employed 26 full-time consultants and 25 honorary staff in various areas such as pathology, pharmacology, and obstetrics.

In his remarks, the Otaru of the Auchi Sacred Kingdom, Alhaji Aliru Momoh, Ikelebe III, urged the people of Auchi and Edo North to support the facility continually. He also enjoined the medical staff to be committed and exhibit a positive attitude while delivering quality services to the people.

The event was graced by dignitaries, including a representative of the Commissioner for Education, a representative of the Otaru of Igarra, and the traditional ruler of the Wepa Clan. Overall, the launch of the free medical outreach signifies the commitment of the Edo State government towards providing accessible and quality healthcare services for the people.
