Dr. Andrew Asan Ate is an award-winning journalist and former Features Editor of Ondo State
tabloid, The Hope. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, Benue State University, Makurdi, Master of
Arts, Imo State University, Owerri and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degrees in Mass
Communication also from Benue State University.
Dr. Ate, an expert in print journalism, is a Course Writer/Developer for National Open
University of Nigeria (NOUN). He is a recipient of several professional and academic awards
and he is keenly interested in Development Communication, dynamics in New Media structure
among other areas of communication.
Ate was former Head of Department of Mass Communication in two Nigerian universities –
Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State and Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji,
Osun State. He is currently a Senior Lecturer and Head, Department of Mass Communication,
Edo University, Iyamho, Edo State. He is also, the Sub-Dean, Faculty of Arts, Management and
Social Sciences of the same university.
